- PCAP / RTP / EM choice
- Equipment evaluation
| PCAP Touch Panel | Resistive Touch Panel | |
|---|---|---|
| Touch Method | Capacitive sensing | Pressure-based input |
| Multi-Touch | Suitable for multi-touch configurations | Generally selected for simpler touch input |
| Bare Finger | Yes | Yes |
| Glove Operation | Available with appropriate configuration | Suitable |
| Stylus Input | Depends on touch configuration | Suitable |
| Cover Glass Integration | Strong advantage | Can be integrated according to structure |
| Modern Flat-Front Design | Very suitable | Depends on construction |
| Custom Surface Treatment | AG / AR / AF available | According to project |
| Industrial Applications | HMI, medical, outdoor, terminals, transportation | Industrial control, equipment operation, instrumentation |
| Optical Bonding | Available | Available |
No single touch technology fits every industrial application. For OEM projects we evaluate the operator, environment, cover lens and display structure together before recommending PCAP or resistive touch.
Custom Engineering
Custom Cover Lens for Touch Panels
The cover lens is not only a protective layer — it affects the appearance, optical performance, touch sensitivity, impact resistance and environmental durability of the final touch screen.
UNI DISPLAY supports customized cover lens solutions together with the touch panel, so the assembly becomes part of the final equipment design rather than a separate electronic component.
Material & Thickness Engineering
Available cover lens materials include chemically strengthened glass, soda-lime glass, PMMA and PC, selected on impact resistance, optics, weight, appearance, cost, outdoor exposure and equipment structure. Cover lens thickness is available from approximately 0.3 mm to 6 mm, with reinforced structures evaluated for IK1–IK10+ protection where required.
- Custom outer dimensions, active area, edge and shape
- Holes, cut-outs and rounded corners for equipment fit
- Black-mask, color, logo and decorative printing
- Transparent windows and mechanical processing
Surface Treatments
AG, AR & AF Surface Treatments
Touch screens are directly exposed to users and the environment. Surface treatments improve readability, usability and long-term appearance.
AG – Anti-Glare
AG treatment reduces glare from surrounding lighting, suited to industrial HMIs, control panels and environments where reflected light affects readability.
AR – Anti-Reflection
AR treatment reduces surface reflections and improves light transmission, useful where display clarity and visibility matter.
AF – Anti-Fingerprint
AF treatment reduces fingerprints, stains and contamination from repeated touch operation — particularly useful for frequently used interfaces.
Optical Bonding
Optical Bonding for Touch Panels
Optical bonding eliminates the air gap between the display, touch panel or cover lens using an optically clear bonding material. For industrial, outdoor and high-reliability applications, it improves both optical performance and structural durability.
| Air Bonding | Optical Bonding | |
|---|---|---|
| Internal Reflection | More reflection | Reduced internal reflection |
| Display Readability | More affected by surrounding light | Improved visibility and contrast |
| Condensation | Air gap can increase fogging risk | Bonded structure reduces internal air gap |
| Impact Resistance | Separate layers | More integrated structure |
| Dust / Contamination | Air space remains between layers | Bonded area is sealed between layers |
| Environmental Reliability | More sensitive to environmental variation | Suitable for higher-reliability applications |
Optical bonding is not automatically required for every touch display. The bonding method is selected on the application requirements rather than assumed.
Bonding Materials
OCA & OCR Optical Bonding Options
We support both OCA and OCR optical bonding for touch panel, cover lens and TFT LCD integration. The material is selected on the display structure, optical performance, reliability and manufacturing process.
OCA Optical Bonding
OCA is an optically clear adhesive film used between display layers.
- High transparency
- Low haze
- Controlled adhesive thickness
- Clean optical stack
- Flat display structures
- Cover lens & touch panel integration
OCR Optical Bonding
OCR is a liquid optically clear resin that fills the bonding area and is then cured.
- Complex structures
- Greater gap filling
- Step-height accommodation
- Vibration resistance
- Impact resistance
- High environmental reliability
Bonding Process Control
Reliable optical bonding depends on more than the adhesive material — we manage the process around the complete bonding stack.
Process steps include material confirmation, cleaning, OCA lamination or OCR dispensing, alignment, defoaming / curing, and display, touch, optical and appearance inspection.
- Material & specification confirmation
- Cleaning and dust removal
- OCA lamination or OCR dispensing
- Positioning and alignment
- Defoaming / curing
- Display, touch, optical and appearance inspection
Key process controls include cleanliness, temperature, time, pressure, particle contamination control, alignment accuracy, bubble and void prevention, curing conditions and inspection records.

How We Work
Custom Touch Panel Development Process
We develop custom touch solutions based on actual application requirements rather than relying solely on a standard panel part number.
Requirement Review
Each project begins with an evaluation of:
- Touch panel size
- Viewing area
- Touch technology
- Number of touch points
- Cover lens requirements
- Operating method
- Glove requirements
- Wet-operation requirements
- Mechanical dimensions
- Operating environment
- TFT LCD model
- Final application
Technology & Structure Selection
Based on these requirements, the project is evaluated for PCAP / RTP / EM Digitizer, sensor structure, touch controller, cover lens, surface treatment, optical bonding and display integration.
Mechanical & Optical Design
The touch panel and cover lens are customized to fit the final equipment design, including dimensions, shape, printing, holes, rounded corners and cut-outs.
Prototype & Validation
Samples are evaluated for touch operation, display compatibility, mechanical fit, appearance, optical performance and application-related environmental requirements before production.
Mass Production
After design and sample specifications are confirmed, the project moves into controlled production with inspection criteria established on the approved product requirements.
